Dana Silvercloud started playing in his family's gospel music troupe at the tender age of nine years old. By the time he joined the navy in his mid-20s, he had already played professionally in three R&B bands. He began his 24-year Navy career as a gunner but moved on quickly to music, rising to unit leader of the prestigious Atlantic Express Band, one of the four ensembles in the 70-member Atlantic Fleet Band. Recently, Loyd has performed with Baddadz, Tiki Bar Band, Party Fins, Mike Proffitt Band, The Tommy V Band and occasionally, with Lewis McGhee among others. Specializing in drums, percussion and vocals, Loyd has a unique ability to listen and play songs he has never heard or played before. This allows him the artistic flexibility to play any kind of music, although he fancies soul, rhythm and blues and rock. So, when he has the chance to sing, be it lead or harmonies, his voice is quite soulful. Loyd is an easy going, friendly and positive guy and translates this into the joy he has for his music.
